If you (or someone you care for) needs gluten free meals, you’ll know how hard it is to find options that actually taste good, feel nourishing and aren’t full of strange ingredients.

At Open Sauce Kitchen, many of our frozen meals are naturally gluten free, or we prepare a specific gluten free version. We focus on homestyle recipes – the kind of food you’d cook at home if you had the time.

A quick note on allergens

Our gluten free meals are made without gluten-containing ingredients such as wheat, barley or rye.

However, they are prepared in the same commercial kitchen where these ingredients are present. We follow careful cleaning and handling processes, but we cannot guarantee the total absence of traces.

If you have coeliac disease or are extremely sensitive, please consider whether this is suitable for your needs. If you’re unsure, you’re very welcome to contact us and we can talk through how we prepare and pack your meals.

Ordering and delivery

Weekly ordering: Our menu opens every Tuesday at 9am (Brisbane time) and closes the following Monday at midday.

Cooking & freezing: We cook in small batches after orders close, then freeze your meals ready for dispatch.

Frozen delivery: All orders are sent out frozen via refrigerated courier across much of Australia.

Free delivery threshold: Free delivery applies to orders over $150 (for most areas).

Home Care / Support at Home & NDIS: Many of our gluten free customers are on packages. We’re an approved meal provider via Cookaborough, which handles split billing between you and your provider. If you’re on a package and need help getting started, just contact us.

Q1. Are all of your meals gluten free?

Not all of our meals are gluten free, but many are, and we’re always adding more. This page is a good starting point for our gluten free friendly options. Check the ingredients on each product, and if you’re unsure, just ask.

Q2. Can you cater for coeliac disease?

Our gluten free meals are made without gluten-containing ingredients, but they are prepared in a kitchen where gluten is present. We take care with cleaning and handling, but cannot guarantee there are no traces. Some coeliac customers are comfortable with this, others prefer only kitchens that are entirely gluten free – it’s important to choose what feels safest for you.

Q3. Do you offer gluten free desserts?

We often have gluten free dessert options available, including specials like Burnt Basque Cheesecake from Yum Bakery when it’s on the menu. Keep an eye on the weekly menu, or contact us if you’re looking for something specific.

Can I use my Home Care / Support at Home or NDIS package for gluten free meals?

In many cases, yes. We’re a fully approved meal provider on the Cookaborough platform, which handles the split billing between you and your provider. If you’re on a package and not sure how it works, contact us and we can help you get set up.
